Yeah, might be content leaving him where he is.

Think they'd totally have the chops for it, especially with Tim Schafer at the helm and Microsoft giving them a decent budget.Īnd as for Conker. Said it before, but considering they're now owned by Microsoft, Double Fine would be my first choice to make a Banjo game if they're up for it. Not sure if I want a Conker sequel, the first one's ending was perfect as it was and Chris Seavor is so busy with his own projects that he might not be interested in co-developing a game with Rare.Īs for Everwild, I agree with Alph and I hope the game's visuals will remain intact as both trailers are beautiful. Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Jet Force Gemini are two favourites of mine as well, but with the former being a flop and the latter being so old I fear that neither would make a comeback.
#Rare everwild new ip series#
Then again the XBLA ports were co-developed with 4J Studios, so who knows.Īs for Viva PiÂñata and Kameo, I don't know what companies could make good follow ups/revivals to those series (I'm too ignorant on the matter) but both games were so good that letting the IPs vanish would be a waste. I can't see Rare letting another company make Banjo I don't know, maybe I'm completely wrong, but I feel like Banjo is Rare's most important IP (not sales wise but history wise) and they would handle a new game in-company and maybe that's why Banjo is taking so long to come back. Would definitely help with the wait.īesides Perfect Dark, which is finally coming back, Rare's IPs returns I'd like to see the most are Banjo (well, duh!), Viva Piñata and Kameo. Hoping we might get just one new Rare-affliated game between now and Everwild's release, like another Battletoads or something. Would love to see more ambitious new games from old IP with more money thrown at them like PD, and it would absolutely help fill the gap between Rare's hot new creations.Īnyways. Even if Rare themselves aren't making it, we're getting ready to see a big-budget Triple-A Perfect Dark game of all things and I hope it's a sign of things to come. Think the only other thing we can really turn to outside of SoT is the collaborations. Hoping this presumed set-up is reestablished after Everwild, but we'll see. Have one team dedicated to SoT or whatever online game Rare chooses to put out ( assuming they make more after SoT, sequels or not) and another two developing more games alongside it. If it hadn't been for Everwild's growing pains, I think the situation before might be modern Rare's best-case scenario. It seemed like in addition to the SoT crew, Louise O'Connor and Gregg Mayles had formed two teams to develop Everwild and an unknown project respectively, but obviously that fell through and now Gregg, at least, has to put his project on hold to helm Everwild. Sea of Thieves is Rare's bread and butter, so of course a large part of the company's going to be 100% dedicated to the game for the foreseeable future.

Can't lie and say I don't wish there was a way for Rare to put out more games faster, but not sure what can really be done right now.
